❤️NDIS❤️

The NDIS provides funding to eligible people with disability to gain more time with family and friends, greater independence, access to new skills, jobs, or volunteering in their community, and an improved quality of life.

The NDIS also connects anyone with disability to services in their community.

This includes connections to doctors, community groups, sporting clubs, support groups, libraries and schools, as well as providing information about what support is provided by each state and territory government.

Key Aspects:

  1. Individualised Support: The NDIS provides personalised funding based on the specific needs and goals of each participant. This funding can be used for a wide range of supports and services, including therapy, assistive technology, personal care, and social participation.

  2. Eligibility: To access the NDIS, individuals must meet certain criteria, including being under 65 years of age and having a permanent and significant disability that affects their ability to participate in everyday activities.

  3. Planning Process: Participants work with a planner or Local Area Coordinator (LAC) to create an NDIS plan. This plan outlines the participant’s goals and the supports they need. It is reviewed regularly to ensure it continues to meet the participant’s needs.

  4. Funding and Flexibility: The NDIS provides participants with the flexibility to choose how they manage their funding. They can opt to self-manage, use a plan manager, or have the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) manage the funds on their behalf.

  5. Supports Covered: The NDIS covers a wide range of supports, including:

    • Core Supports: Assistance with daily living activities, transport, and consumables.
    • Capacity Building Supports: Aimed at helping participants develop skills and independence, including education, employment, and social participation.
    • Capital Supports: Funding for assistive technology, equipment, and home modifications.
  6. Community Inclusion: The NDIS encourages participants to engage with their communities and participate in social, economic, and recreational activities.

  7. Support for Families and Caregivers: The scheme also acknowledges the role of families and caregivers, providing resources and support to help them in their caring roles.
